WELLNESS EXAMS

Regular wellness exams are the foundation of your pet's lifelong health. During these visits, our veterinarians take time to perform a full physical exam, discuss diet and behavior, and identify early signs of illness before they become serious concerns. Whether it's your puppy's first checkup or your senior cat's yearly visit, we tailor care to your pet's age, lifestyle, and individual needs - because prevention is always the best medicine.

VACCINATIONS

Protecting your pet from preventable diseases starts with timely vaccinations. We follow vaccines protocols based on your pet's species, age, and risk factors to ensure the best protection with minimal stress. From core vaccines like Rabies and Distemper, to lifestyle-based options such a Bordetella or Lyme. Our team works with you to create a personalized plan that keeps your pet safe and your mind at ease.

SURGERY

When your pet needs surgery, you can trust that they'll receive compassionate, high-quality care from start to finish. We perform a variety of surgical procedures - from routine spays and neuters, to mass removals and emergency interventions - with advanced monitoring and pain management at every step. Our goal is to make the experience as smooth and stress-free as possible for both you and your pet.

ORTHOPEDIC SURGERY

Our team is equipped to diagnose and treat a wide range of bone, joint, and ligament conditions to help pets regain mobility and comfort. Whether it's a cruciate ligament repair, fracture fixation, or other orthopedic procedure, we combine surgical expertise with attentive post-operative care and rehabilitation guidance. Every step is focused on helping your pet return to the active life they love.

EMERGENCY CARE

We are available for urgent care and emergencies. There is a veterinarian and personnel on duty during operating hours who is trained and equipped to handle the care that your pet needs.

DENTAL CARE

Pets can be burdened with dental problems and disease just like humans. Dental disease can inhibit intake of proper nutrition, cause pain, and can lead to other systemic issues that may threaten your pet’s overall health before symptoms have been noticed. With good dental hygiene performed at home, you can increase your pet’s health, vitality, and well-being as well as help ensure your pet leads the best life possible.

EXOTICS - Medicine and Surgery

We offer wellness care programs for birds, small exotic mammals, reptiles, poultry, goats, and pigs. We recommend physical examinations twice a year to check for health problems, as well as annual monitoring to check for nutritional and husbandry related conditions. A complete wellness appointment is strongly recommended after you have acquired your new exotic pet. This visit will include a physical examination, nutritional consultation, disease screening, and laboratory testing if necessary. We also carry Distemper and Rabies vaccines for ferrets. Providing your exotic pet with preventative care will ensure a greater chance to live a longer healthier life. We have a veterinarian on staff that has experience with exotic animal medicine, surgery (small mammal spay/neuter, reptile spay, turtle/tortoise spay), and emergencies.

CANINE AND FELINE BREEDING AND REPRODUCTION

Breeding soundness exam: The veterinarian will assess the pet's general condition. An appropriate body condition score, adequate respiratory function, and healthy cardiovascular and musculoskeletal systems are needed to support a successful pregnancy. For brachycephalic breeds, remember that any respiratory compromise can impact uterine oxygenation and health. The extra weight of a pregnant uterus can exacerbate musculoskeletal problems. If noted, skin abnormalities may indicate underlying disease. Finally, many endocrine and neurologic diseases such as hypothyroidism and epilepsy are heritable and should be ruled out prior to breeding.
Artificial Insemination: We currently offer vaginal, surgical, and transcervical insemination for our canine patients.
Ovulation timing: Our doctor is happy to assist you with your breeding needs, including reproduction consults and ovulation timing.
Cesarean timing: We can estimate when your female dog will be due to whelp after the day she ovulated. At Cedar Hill, we schedule c-sections 62 days after ovulation so you don’t end up in the middle of the night at your local emergency clinic.
Pregnancy testing: Pregnancy can be verified with the use of a Relaxin pregnancy test at least 21 days after mating. X-ray can also be used to confirm pregnancy and to count the amount of puppies you should expect. Ultrasound can be performed 21 days after ovulation, but is preferred to wait until 28 days post ovulation.
