Exotic Medicine & Surgery
We take pride in being one of the few clinics in Central Ohio that will see and treat Exotic patients. Ranging from reptiles, small mammals, primates, and birds, Dr. Headlee will see them all! Like dogs and cats, annual exams are recommended for these sensitive creatures. Educating our clients about proper husbandry and proper diet is one of the most important parts of your pet's visit, ensuring they live a happy and healthy lifestyle in a habitat that best suits their needs!
Our clinic offers a private, exotic exam room equipped with all of the tools to help your pet's visit be as stress-free as possible.

Diagnostics:
At Cedar Hill, we take pride in offering gold standard medicine for all of our patients. This includes our exotics! Should your exotic pet need bloodwork, we can assure that you have made the right choice in choosing us to help. We partner with an exotic-specific diagnostic laboratory, Moichor, to help get the most accurate diagnostics for your exotic family members. Beyond their ability to offer a full suite of veterinary diagnostic solutions, their team is devoted to developing the world’s largest species-specific reference interval library so that every patient receives the most individualized pathology possible. Mentorship: Dr. Headlee is also mentored by Dr. Nicholas Jew, who is the exotic doctor at Med Vet Hilliard. Dr. Nicholas Jew attended the University of Texas at Austin where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering: Cell & Bimolecular. He then earned a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Nicholas Jew has a special interest in reptile medicine and surgery, husbandry of reptiles and amphibians, and the use of full spectrum ultraviolet (UV) radiation for exotic animals. His favorite part of veterinary medicine is educating people about the importance of appropriate husbandry of exotic animals as well as providing current, state-of-the-art medical care for exotic animals. Dr. Jew is apart of the ARAV (Association of Reptile and Amphibian Veterinarians), AEMV (Association of Exotic Mammal Veterinarians), and the AAV (Association of Avian Veterinarians). We are very lucky to have such a knowledgeable, caring mentor, to assist us in specialized, unique cases. |
What do I need to bring to my exotic pet's veterinary appointment?
- Bring photo(s) of your pets enclosure. It is important for our Doctor to have a clear and visual understanding of your pets environment at home. The environment is crucial when it comes to your exotic pets health, and as much information you can provide our team with regarding the care of your pet, the better!
- A fresh stool sample. A stool sample up to 24 hours before to your appointment is recommended that you bring to your appointment. Bringing a stool sample will allow us to check for possible parasites that will need treated.
- A small bag of your pets favorite dry foods. Knowing the brand of food your feeding your pet is helpful as well!
