Kitten Visits

Give your new kitten the best start in life! Welcoming a kitten into your home is a moment filled with curiosity, cuddles, and countless photo ops. Each kitten has unique needs and personalities — which means their care plan should be just as special.
At Cedar Hill Animal Clinic, our veterinarians and support team create personalized care plans to help your kitten grow into a healthy, confident, and well-adjusted adult cat. 💜

We have a separate exam room for our feline patients set up with everything to make their visit at Cedar Hill as comforting as possible.

The First Year: Building a Healthy Foundation
Your kitten’s first year is a time of incredible growth and discovery. During this stage, regular veterinary visits allow us to monitor their development, keep them protected from disease, and set them up for a lifetime of wellness.
Each visit includes:
Comprehensive physical exams Age-appropriate vaccinations and boosters Diagnostic testing for parasites and viral diseases Nutrition, behavior, and home-care guidance.

Physical Exams
A lifetime of good health begins with your kitten’s very first check-up!
Kittens typically need 3–4 physical exams between 8 and 16 weeks of age. These frequent visits help us:
Track growth and weight gain Listen to the heart and lungs Check eyes, teeth, skin, and joints Identify any congenital concerns early These visits also help your kitten get comfortable with the veterinary experience — creating calm, confident cats as they grow. 🐾

Vaccinations
Your kitten’s immune system is still developing, so timely, properly spaced vaccines are essential for strong, lasting protection.
We follow AVMA and AAFP-based guidelines, tailoring each protocol to your kitten’s lifestyle and environment.
Typical vaccines include:
Core vaccines: Feline viral rhinotracheitis, calicivirus, panleukopenia (FVRCP), and Rabies Lifestyle vaccines: Feline leukemia virus (FeLV) for kittens who go outdoors or live with other cats Your veterinarian will guide you on which vaccines are appropriate and when boosters are needed.

Diagnostic Testing
Early screening helps us keep your kitten healthy from the start.
We recommend:
FeLV/FIV testing: Detects feline leukemia and feline immunodeficiency virus, two important viral infections that affect cat health and longevity. Fecal testing: Checks for intestinal parasites that are common in young kittens and can impact growth and digestion. We’ll also discuss starting year-round flea, tick, and heartworm prevention to keep your kitten protected from day one.

Nutrition, Behavior, and Preventive Care
Your kitten’s early experiences shape their lifelong wellbeing. Along with vaccines and exams, we’ll cover:
Spay/neuter or ovary-sparing/vasectomy options (depending on your goals) Diet and feeding guidance for healthy growth and weight Litter box training and behavior tips Microchipping for permanent identification Parasite prevention (fleas, ticks, intestinal worms, and heartworm) Our goal is to empower you with everything you need to raise a thriving, happy feline family member. 💕

📞 Schedule Your Kitten’s First Visit. Call us today at 614-897-0404 or email [email protected] to book your kitten’s first exam. Together, we’ll make sure your newest little explorer starts life on the right paw. 🐾💜

How could a Wellness Plan benefit myself and my pet?
For most of us, pets are part of our families and we want them in our lives as long as possible. The most important and responsible thing we can do for them is to focus on preventative care. We understand it can be difficult to keep up with the cost associated with your pets care. That is why we are excited to be able to offer Wellness Plans to our clients and their pets!
Our wellness plans are designed to break up the cost of preventative care throughout a year of your pets life, while ensuring your pet is receiving the best care possible!
